The Final War continues to unfold in My Hero Academia, with the heroes facing the villains to the death. It’s not only the main characters who are fighting All For One’s army but there are also the other Pro Heroes, like Onima of the Flame Sidekickers, who are devoted to doing their jobs at all costs. Meet Pro Hero Onima of the Flame Sidekickers
Our happori-wearing Pro Hero Onima is one of the Flame Sidekickers, along with Kido, Burnin, and the unnamed horse sidekick, who are working for Endeavor’s Hero Agency.
As a Flame Sidekicker, Onima usually does minor jobs to support Endeavor, that is, until the Paranormal Liberation War Arc and the Final War Arc, which require more of his skills and abilities.
From hero patrols, evacuating civilians, and sending signal flames to Endeavor to guarding and handing criminals captured by Endeavor to the police force, Onima is a hardworking pro-hero who is seriously committed to his job, although most of the time, he only needs to clean up after Endeavor.
Onima also has a likable personality, the type of pro-hero who doesn’t have a snobbish attitude toward new Work Study interns like Deku, Bakugo, and Todoroki.
While Onima’s quirk is unknown to this day, it has been implied that he has extreme heat resistance. His quirk is also said to be not fire-based, even though he belongs to the Flame Sidekickers.
In the face of danger, Onima and the members of Flame Sidekickers will not back down, even if they are inferior to the enemy.
What Happens to Onima in My Hero Academia?
Here’s what happened so far to the Pro Hero Onima from the Final Performance Arc to the Final War Arc.
During the Final Performance Arc, Onima, along with the rest of the Flame Sidekickers, helped Endeavor defeat Bee☆Pop, even though the latter was able to escape thanks to The Crawler.
Similar to the other members of Flame Sidekickers, Onima was in charge of sending signal flames to Endeavor and evacuating the people during the Naruhata Crisis.
In the Vs. Hero Killer Arc, Onima guarded the Nomu, which Gran Torino apprehended until it was handed over to the police.
Meanwhile, in the Joint Training Arc, Onima did the minor job of compiling team-up requests and interviews for Endeavor’s agency. They received quite a number of requests because everyone was interested in reaching Todoroki.
The same can be said at Endeavor Agency Arc, where he welcomed the new work-study interns. He also accompanied the interns on missions as well as dealing with weaker villains.
Onima was also present in the largest hero operation to take down the Paranormal Liberation Front.
He was part of the group tasked with capturing Kyudai Garaki at Jaku Hospital. He also fought against Near-High-End Nomu and survived the Decay attack.
What Happens to Onima in the Final War Arc of My Hero Academia?
The Final War arc sees Onima supporting Todoroki in his fight with Dabi in Kamino. He was able to buy time for Todoroki to utilize phosphor, but Dabi eventually recovered and caught Onima off guard.
As of writing, Onima’s fate in My Hero Academia is still unclear. However, a lot of fans believe that he is already dead, as is Kido, after Dabi burned them together.
On the bright side, let’s hope that Onima survived Dabi’s attack, which will probably be shown later in the remaining chapters of the manga. Perhaps he’s undergoing treatment, but for now, we’ll never know.
