Most of the recent anime announcements are of upcoming Winter and Spring 24 shows, but there are a couple of new shows that are still some time away. Among these is Welcome to Japan, Ms. Elf!, which was recently confirmed to be getting an anime adaptation.
This isekai novel series’ anime was revealed on the Comic Fire platform’s official X (formerly Twitter) account. There, the announcement was made, but it didn’t feature much in the way of details.
Despite the lack of info, isekai fans should look forward to the show given its interesting premise.
Welcome to Japan, Ms. Elf! Is Another Interesting Take on the Isekai Genre
Many isekai shows are straight-up power fantasies or have edgy stories. That isn’t the case with Welcome to Japan, Ms. Elf!
Ms. Elf began as a novel series on the popular platform Shosetsuka ni Naro back in 2017. It was then picked up as a light novel series by Hobby Japan in 2018, and it also got a manga adaptation in the same year.
This series can be likened to a reverse isekai like The Devil Is a Part-Timer! Looking deeper at its premise, calling it a reverse isekai isn’t exactly a perfect fit.
The story follows Kazuhiro Kitase who dreams of a fantasy world every time he sleeps. When he’s a 25-year-old salaryman, he continues to have these dreams.
One time, he was exploring the fantasy world in his sleep along with his friend, Marie, though they were soon killed by a dragon. Kazuhiro then wakes up in the real world with Marie with him.
Kazuhiro soon discovers that whenever he sleeps or dies in the fantasy world, he brings back whom he touches to the real world. Thus begins his journey of jumping between worlds with his newfound friends.

Welcome to Japan, Ms. Elf! Anime Adaptation Is in the Works
Welcome to Japan, Ms. Elf! is getting an anime adaptation, though the reveal did not come with much info. In fact, it’s not even known if the anime will be a series or a movie.
Given that the series has been serialized for years now, it’s possible that the anime adaptation will be a TV series.
For now, there’s no word yet on a release date, cast, or even a studio for this upcoming anime project.
In the meantime, fans who are interested in checking the series out can read the light novel and the manga adaptation in English through releases by J-Novel Club.
