Wednesday Star Jenna Ortega Reveals Scary Film She Had Nightmares About

One thing that fans completely admire about Jenna Ortega’s Wednesday Addams is not just about how she looks the part, but because of her similarities with her own character. She was taught not to blink as Wednesday as part of the character and even previously admitted to performing autopsies on dead lizards when she was younger, both of which were very Wednesday-like. However, the actor has also shared she had nightmares from the very first horror movie she watched as a kid.

While appearing for a video with ELLE, Ortega opens up about her first experiences and one of them happened to be the first scary movie she had ever watched. As expected, the first horror film she saw had been a terrible experience, especially since she was younger. Read her full story below:

“I think the first scary movie I watched, or at least saw part of before I ran away in fear was Child’s Play, I wanna say. My older siblings and my Tio were watching and I asked if I could watch the movie with them ‘cause I loved movies, and they said, ‘No, you’re gonna be too scared.’”

But of course, like many kids with peaked curiosities, Ortega recalls sneaking out of her room just to take a peek of the movie, only to find herself having a nightmare about the murderous doll’s hand up until a certain age.

“They sent me to my room and I remember peeking around the corner of my hallway to watch the film and I literally only saw his hand. I screamed in terror ‘cause I knew he was this murderous doll, and then every year I would have a nightmare about a hand up until I was about 15.”

Talk about irony. Now, as Wednesday, she’s literally been forced to spend most of her screentime with a hand, the one they call ‘Thing’ as part of the Addams family and partly as Wednesday’s babysitter. Thing and Chucky’s hands even carry the resemblance of being sewed up after getting taken apart for countless times. However, this is a really minor detail that is different between Ortega and Wednesday, compared to everything the actor has committed to for the role, which doesn’t take the magic away.
