Watch Aquaman Explosive New Trailer As Jason Momoa Takes On Black Manta

The King of Atlantis is here! The extended trailer for Aquaman has just been dropped and we get to see Arthur Curry (Jason Momoa) take on Black Manta (Yahya Abdul-Mateen II) in an epic action sequence.

The trailer opens with a more detailed look at Arthur's parents Thomas Curry (Temuera Morrison) and Queen Atlanna (Nicole Kidman). However, it quickly shifts to the present day as Arthur and Mera (Amber Heard) journey to the desert to find a lost city with secrets about the past.

There's a ton of new footage but the highlight is undoubtedly Arthur's first interaction with Black Manta. The mercenary and his men immediately engage Arthur and Mera, who leads them into an epic chase across roofs. Arthur isn't exaggerating when he says, "That was awesome."

We also get a glimpse of the duel between Arthur and Ocean Master (Patrick Wilson). The men aren't the only ones who get into a fight. Kidman's Queen Atlanna is also shown fending off several attackers in what appears to be the home she shares with Thomas. There is little doubt that Aquaman has plenty of awesome action sequences involving all of the characters. Plus, the trailer has an awesome surprise in the end for comic book fans.

The new trailer did not feature certain characters like Dolph Lundgren's King Nereus. Though, we finally got a fleeting look at Graham McTavish as the ancient king of Atlantis. Needless to say, this is a surprising departure from the Preacher star's usual role as a villain.

Aquaman is directed by James Wan. The DC Extended Universe flick also stars Willem Dafoe (At Eternity's Gate), Randall Park (Ant-Man and the Wasp), Ludi Lin (Power Rangers), and Djimon Hounsou (Captain Marvel). Wan's long-time collaborator Leigh Whannell also has a small part in the film.

Aquaman hits theaters on December 21.
