Tom Holland Talks About The Avengers: Infinity War Scene That Broke His Heart

Warning: This article contains spoilers for Avengers: Infinity War.

Marvel fans might consider Spider-Man's death scene one of the most heartbreaking scenes in Avengers: Infinity War, but to Tom Holland, Loki's (Tom Hiddleston) death scene was the one that hurt him the most.

Speaking at a panel at Comicpalooza this weekend, the Spider-Man: Homecoming star decided to open up about what he felt when he saw Avengers: Infinity War for the very first time. According to Holland, he was able to enjoy the film just like a fan would because to prevent spoilers, Marvel kept the film under wraps, even from the cast. The British actor also opened up about the scene that broke his heart the most – Loki's death.

"Yeah, I honestly didn't really know much at all which is quite fun because, like you guys, I'm a big fan of these movies so being able to go to the theater and enjoy it as a fan because I knew nothing about it was great, you know?" Holland told fans at the panel. "Tom Hiddleston at the beginning? Heartbreaking. That killed me."

Loki was one of the very first victims of Thanos and the Black Order in the Mad Titan's Quest for the Infinity Stones. During the very start of the film, we all get to see the waylay of Thanos' massacre on the ship carrying Asgard's survivors fresh from Thor: Ragnarok.

Attempting to save his brother's life, Loki hands over the Tesseract to Thanos and then tries to trick the Mad Titan into taking him along to Earth in search of the other Infinity Stones. However, it turns out to be a ruse – Loki uses the moment to try and stab Thanos in the throat. Catching him by the neck, Thanos snaps the life out of Loki and throws him right in front of Thor (Chris Hemsworth).

Like Spider-Man's scene, Loki's death is emotional and shocking. No one expected Loki to meet his actual end at the hands of Thanos – the Asgardian God of Mischief has evaded death before. Now Thor has no family, no people, and no home to return to. It's kind of heartbreaking really.

Avengers: Infinity War is currently screening in cinemas.
