Letitia Wright Is Open To Becoming Marvel’s Next Black Panther

It looks like Black Panther actress Letitia Wright is hoping that Shuri becomes the new Black Panther someday.

Avengers: Infinity War left a lot of questions about the future of the Black Panther franchise after T'Challa (Chadwick Boseman) fell victim to Thanos finger-snapping massacre at the end of the movie. Would Marvel bring T'Challa back? Or would they let another character take on the Black Panther mantle?

Talking with fans during a Q and A session at a panel at this year's MCM London Comic-Con (via Screen Geek), Wright was asked whether she'd like to see Shuri take over T'Challa's role as Black Panther. Though the actress says that she isn't really trying to steal Boseman's place in the franchise, she's pretty much willing to take on the role if it ever comes her way.

"If the opportunity came about, then why not? It would be comic book accurate. Yeah, that would be amazing. It means more training, more learning and it would really be an amazing adventure. Shuri becomes a savage in the comic books. From going to comedic and fun and like a kid – to then just pulling out some claws. I'm excited."

Wright does have a point. If Marvel decides to keep T'Challa six feet under, then most appropriate replacement would be Shuri. She has taken over the role in the comics before. It'd definitely be interesting seeing this playful and intelligent character bare out her claws if ever she becomes the next Black Panther of Wakanda.

Avengers: Infinity War is currently screening in cinemas.
