Warner Bros. And Matt Reeves Want A “Familiar Face” For The Batman

There's been a whole lot of hullabaloo over at DC this week. Not only did DC fans get The Batman's estimated release date and storyline, but word also came out that Ben Affleck would be officially leaving the DC Extended Universe. Taking off his cape as the DCEU's Dark Knight, Affleck would pass on Batman's torch to a newer and younger actor for Matt Reeve's upcoming Batman standalone movie.

Now that Warner Brothers is officially on the lookout for a new actor to play DC's Caped Crusader, word on the block says that Reeves and the studio's execs are being selective about the whole process, hoping to find a familiar face for fans.

Variety's Justin Kroll just recently took to Twitter saying that pre-production on The Batman was moving faster than expected. The project's production date might be scheduled sometime later this year, but it looks like Reeves has already begun setting his casting requirements for DC's new Batman.

"THE BATMAN: this sounds like it could move faster then people would expect with the date set. Hearing studio wants a familiar face and Reeves has his certain age in mind and that age is very specific like I said two names within 7 years of each other; "Too young, too Old'"

It looks like Reeves and Warner Brothers have a specific age and look in mind, though we're pretty sure that there are a whole lot of stars out there who'd like a crack at the role. Pop star Nick Jonas has been one of them. Meanwhile, fans have been hoping to see actors like Jon Hamm and Armie Hammer give the part a shot.
