It might not be a particularly well-known series outside of Japan, but Vampire Dormitory is a shojo series that has been serialized since 2018 in Kodansha’s Nakayoshi magazine.

The manga is written by Ema Toyama, a prolific shojo mangaka with titles such as Pixie Pop, I Am Here!, and Kamikamikaeshi.

For her latest work, Vampire Dormitory, Toyama continues to use her art style that’s straight out of the 2000s shojo era. What’s more, its story is also something that fans of titles like Ouran High School Host Club will love.

Vampire Dormitory follows cross-dresser Mito Yamamoto, who is swarmed by women daily in the restaurant where she works. Mito is soon fired for the trouble that she inadvertently brings.

Out of a job, Mito stumbles upon a café and gets a cut on her hand. Right after, a mysterious man named Ruka appears and licks away Mito’s blood.

It turns out that Ruka is a vampire, and he proposes that Mito should become his thrall. Mito accepts and starts living in the boys’ dorm where Ruka stays. All the while, Ruka doesn’t know that Mito is a girl.
