While many of the highly anticipated Summer 2023 titles are adaptations or sequels, there is an intriguing original anime titled AYAKA that will release this July.
Ahead of the show’s release, a new trailer was shared, which previews more cast members of the show and features brand-new footage of the upcoming fantasy series.
Aside from cast members, the trailer also previewed the show’s opening and ending themes, as well as the release date of the show. Though interestingly, the show has an unusual release schedule in Japan.
AYAKA Anime Reveals New Voice Cast Members
Previously, it was confirmed that AYAKA will star several well-known VAs, including Yuto Uemura (Thorfinn in Vinland Saga), Takuma Terashima (Shiroe in Log Horizon), Yuichiro Umehara (the Goblin Slayer in Goblin Slayer), and Kousuke Toriumi (Mista in JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure).
These four VAs will voice the main characters of the anime. And now, it was revealed that they will be joined by other notable voice actors that should be familiar to most anime fans.
The new cast members include:
- Kenjiro Tsuda (Nanami in Jujutsu Kaisen) as Makoto Yanagi
- Saori Hayami (Yor in Spy x Family) as Momoko Amamiya
- Nobuo Tobita (Hikaru in Rayearth) as Sanji Inou
- Hekiru Shiina (Kamille Bidan in Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam) as Mitama
Also previewed in the trailer are the two songs. First up, the opening song is titled AYAKASHI by angela, the Japanese pop band that made songs for Blame!: The Movie, Knights of Sidonia, and more.
Meanwhile, the ending song is Flashback by saji of Tomodachi Game and Yozakura Quartet fame.

Original Anime AYAKA Reveals July Release Date
AYAKA is an original series by Studio Blanc, the anime studio behind titles such as The Reincarnation of the Strongest Exorcist in Another World, My Girlfriend Is Shobitch, and more.
Unlike most of their other anime, this upcoming series is an original work. Its story follows Yanagi Yukito, an orphan who is taken to his birthplace of Ayakajima.
There, he discovers that his father’s disciples must help protect Ayakajima, which is threatened to collapse.
The anime’s release schedule is a bit unusual as it will premiere on July 1 on TOKYO MX and BS11.
Meanwhile, the show will begin airing on Hokkaido Television Broadcasting on July 3, and on AT-X on July 4.
Currently, there’s no word yet on when and on which platform the series will be released outside Japan.
