It has been a long wait but Tokyo Revengers Season 2 is finally coming early next year. The Christmas Showdown arc has just been given a release date and the new characters joining the anime have been introduced. In addition to that, the new voice actor who will play Ken "Draken" Ryuguji was officially announced!
The announcement was made by the official Tokyo Revengers anime Twitter account which also shared the new key visual for Season 2. The illustration features Takemichi Hanagaki standing alongside Chifuyu Matsuno, Takashi Mitsuya, and Shiba Hakkai as Draken and Manjiro "Mikey" Sano watch them from behind.
Not surprisingly, the Christmas Showdown arc will introduce some new characters including Hakkai, who will be played by Tasuku Hatanaka. We also got character images for Black Dragons members Inui Seisyu, who will be voiced by Jujutsu Kaisen star Junya Enoki, and Kokonoi Hajime who will be portrayed by Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba actor Natsuki Hanae.
Masaya Fukunishi rounds out the new cast members as Draken. The character was previously played by Tatsuhisa Suzuki who has since left the series following controversies about an extramarital affair and violating NDAs.
Tokyo Revengers is based on Ken Wakui's manga and follows Takemichi Hanagaki as he tries to change the past with the help of his ex-girlfriend's brother. Takemichi repeatedly attempts to prevent Hinata Tachibana's death while trying to stop the Tokyo Manji Gang from becoming a large-scale crime organization.
It was previously reported that Tokyo Revengers is celebrating Tokyo Manji Gang's formation with special Toman posters being plastered all over Shibuya. In addition to that, a special live fan event will bring in the anime's voice actors for what could be more awesome announcements.
The Tokyo Revengers posters will be displayed in stations in Shibuya from June 13 to June 19, 2022. The special fan event will be at the Bellesalle Shibuya Garden on June 19, 2022.
Tokyo Revengers Season 2 will premiere in January 2023.
