The Bleach universe has enjoyed a bit of a renaissance recently. Since the manga ended in 2016, things have been pretty quiet for the franchise, save for the Burn the Witch projects.

Last year, Bleach fans were finally treated to the series’ long-awaited return with Thousand-Year Blood War, the adaptation of the manga’s final explosive arc.

What’s more, this anime adaptation by Pierrot is divided into cours with split release schedules. This means the show’s animation is of much higher quality compared to the original which had a continuous run.

In total, the anime will get four cours, with the first cour titled The Blood Warfare, which aired in Fall 22. Meanwhile, the next cour titled The Separation is currently airing.

Soon, Bleach fans can look forward to another anime, this time of the Burn the Witch spinoff series. Specifically, the new anime will adapt the original one-shot which was released back in 2018.

Some might only know of Burn the Witch thanks to the anime film that was released in 2020. This Bleach spinoff series started as a one-shot released in the Weekly Shonen Jump 50th anniversary issue in 2018.

This one-shot is titled Chapter 0.8. "Don't Judge A Book By Its Cover” and serves as a prequel to the serialized continuation that came after. The next part of the series consists of four chapters.

These four chapters were the basis for the film, though the movie did not cover the one-shot.

Finally, this one-shot will be animated soon by Studio Colorido, the same studio that worked on the film.

Based on the trailer, the film’s voice cast should also be back for this new project.

Officially titled Burn the Witch #0.8, this upcoming anime will be released soon, though there’s currently no word yet on its release date.
