One of Netflix's most-streamed reality dating shows has returned for another season. Are Roxanne and Antonio still together after The Ultimatum?
The Ultimatum: Who Are Roxanne and Antonio?
31-year-old Roxanne Kaiser, a CEO at her own company, was given an ultimatum by her 30-year-old partner, Antonio Mattei, a freight broker. After checking online, we learned that Roxanne owns Pasted(Nip), a company that offers pasties.
The two have been in a complicated relationship for almost four years. From the start of the show, Roxanne has pointed out that she is unsure if she ever wants to get married.
Throughout the show, Roxanne has pointed out that Antonio's complacency at his job bothers her a lot. According to Netflix, she feels frustrated that Antonio doesn't "match her income and business ambition."
Meanwhile, Antonio is supportive of Roxanne but wishes she would pay more attention to him too. As viewers learned in the show, Roxanne doesn't say "I love you" to him.
By joining the show, Roxanne and Antonio hope they can finally be on the same page. Since Roxanne was unsure if she needed a man who was as driven and career-focused as her, she chose to pair up with 32-year-old entrepreneur Alex Chapman.
Alex is on the show because his girlfriend, 28-year-old travel nurse Kathryn Shelton issued an ultimatum to him. Now that Roxanne has chosen Alex to be her temporary husband, things get complicated.
Antonio also picked Kat as his trial partner because she had no trouble expressing affection and recognizing his efforts. Basically, everything that Roxanne missed.
What Happened to Roxanne and Antonio in the Show?
At first, the three-week trial marriage seemed to go great for Alex and Roxanne. For Antonio and Kat, however, the two did not really take things seriously.
During a guys' night in episode five, things turn bad for Roxanne and Antonio.
In this episode, Alex told Antonio that his girlfriend did not respect him. He revealed to him that Roxanne referred to him as a "whipping boy."
This led Antonio to ask Roxanne the truth, but she denied it. Later on, Roxanne got into an argument with Alex.
When the "marriage" ended, Roxanne apologized for what happened. Meanwhile, Alex did not apologize for butting into her relationship with her partner. He insisted that Antonio deserved to know the truth.
Are Roxanne and Antonio Still Together After The Ultimatum?
Just before the show ended, the couples decided to get back with their original partners for the three-week trial marriage. While we still don't know if Antonio and Roxanne decided to split up or stay together, there are some clues that give us some idea.
For starters, the two still follow each other on social media. Antonio also seems to be following Roxanne's business account. But then again, this might be a show requirement for the cast members.
Adding to that is the fact that they don't really interact with each other's posts.
There's also a report from Insider that a Venmo user has regularly been sending Roxanne a payment at the end of 2022. The user is believed to be Antonio.
In one of the episodes, Roxanne explained:
“[I spent] my whole life not really wanting to get married, but because of this experiment, it made me realize that I don’t have to be with someone like Alex, who checks all these boxes to, maybe, commit to someone long-term. I really do love Antonio and I realize that he doesn’t check every box, maybe, for other people’s standards — but he checks them for mine."
At the reunion episode, we learned that the two are in fact, still together. The two are also engaged to each other.
Roxanne spoke to Today and said:
“I’m still engaged. Hello, still engaged. Big, big deal for me!”
Despite this, the couple hasn't started planning for their wedding yet.
“Antonio opened a business a month ago. I’m still focused on my company. I’m taking baby steps towards the next phase of what happens after an engagement. I’m happy to do it. Antonio and I are growing together. I feel like we’re closer than ever, which is cool. Never thought it would happen.”
When Antonio popped the question, he wasn't expecting Roxanne would say yes. The two have been engaged for a year now.
“I’ve never been happier in my life. Put it that way,” Antonio said. “It’s really the happiest that I can ever remember myself being, ever. So things are good.”
