The Suicide Squad: James Gunn Reveals Original Design for King Shark

There is little doubt that King Shark is currently everybody's favorite thing about the first trailer for The Suicide Squad. However, the chunky man shark almost had a completely different look in the upcoming DC Extended Universe flick. James Gunn revealed his original plans for King Shark and why he decided against it.

A fan recently tweeted about the decision to turn King Shark into a Great White Shark instead of a Hammerhead like in the comic books. Gunn retweeted the post along with an awesome explanation. Check it out below.

Interestingly, Gunn admitted that he had actually tested with the hammerhead design but decided against it because "having eyes on the sides far apart made it incredibly awkward shooting interactions with other people."

"You couldn't really see him looking at the other person & the shots tended to be too wide," Gunn wrote.

Personally, we love the new King Shark with his dad bod and denim cut-offs in the Suicide Squad trailer. It also helps that he seems so blissfully unaware of the danger around him in the trailer and is just happy to "nom nom" on the bad guys.

Gunn also confirmed that King Shark will be voiced by Sylvester Stallone. It's cool to know that the two have continued to work together after Stallone played Stakar Ogord in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. So could this mean that Gunn and Stallone will work on the third Guardians film again? We're crossing our fingers.

The Suicide Squad will premiere in selected theaters and on HBO Max on August 6, 2021.
