It may be flying under the radar, but The Ice Guy and His Cool Female Colleague is an interesting show to watch, and recently, its voice actors shared the show’s appeal to romantics.

When asked about the biggest shows of Winter 23, The Ice Guy and His Cool Female Colleague may not be the first show that pops up to mind, but it’s definitely worth checking out for those who are tired of school romance stories.

As the show’s broadcast continues, Animate Times has released several interviews with the show’s cast members, the latest being Otonashi-san VA Ayane Sakura.

While Sakura may be best known for voicing younger characters such as Ochaco Uraraka in My Hero Academia and Gabbi Braun in Attack on Titan, she voices an office worker in this new Winter 23 anime.

When asked about what her impressions are of the anime’s script when she first read it, Sakura explained how the chemistry between the characters is compelling.

As its title implies, the series follows two primary characters who are each other’s love interests. Though the show also has loveable supporting characters, each with their own potential romantic partners.

Sakura’s character is among the supporting cast, and she has been given some time to shine in the latest episodes.

Sakura remarked how it was great to see the chemistry of working people, which is quite refreshing.

Aside from Sakura, the series also features a popular VA in Yui Ishikawa, who voices Fuyutsuki-san.

Ishikawa is popular for being the voice of Mikasa in Attack on Titan as well as 2B in NieR: Automata Ver1.1a.

In another interview, Ishikawa along with Chiaki Kobayashi, Himuro-kun's VA, shared what they think makes the two main characters’ relationship special and compelling to watch.

The show’s title refers to an “ice guy” and a “cool female colleague” but the anime is far from cold as the two voice actors said that the main duo is incredibly cute together.

Instead of being a typical youthful type of cute, what makes the show’s cuteness special is that it features a unique premise where the main guy is a descendant of a snow spirit.

While the series doesn’t lean heavily into why spirits have descendants, it makes for a cute and funny visual effect whenever Himuro is overcome with emotion.

It may not be a game-changing anime, but The Ice Guy and His Cool Female Colleague offers a nice change of pace from typical school romance or battle shonen shows.

The anime's new episodes are released every week on Crunchyroll.
