The upcoming school romance anime The Girl I Like Forgot Her Glasses recently got a new trailer, and fan reactions to it are divisive, to say the least.
This upcoming anime will be another school romance show that will air in the Summer 23 season, and it is based on a popular manga series.
While many are excited about this new anime, the new trailer did not inspire confidence in others. On the flip side, others are still optimistic about the show.
Fans Are Divided Over the Trailer’s Art and Animation
The Girl I Like Forgot Her Glasses is a manga with a premise that should be right up the alley of school romance anime fans, so it’s no surprise that it has continued to be a hit since it began in 2018.
Anime studio GoHands is in charge of the anime adaptation, and from the looks of it, this next upcoming show from them retains the studio’s signature style of what seems to be stylized 3DCG animation.
As always, there’s a debate among anime fans about the show given its CGI animation, though some are still keen on giving it a watch.
Specifically, there are fans who commented on the trailer that the art style is a major departure from the manga and that the animation is weird and distracting. The opening shot in the trailer especially drew a strong reaction.
Take note though, the reactions aren’t all negative, as there are lots of fans who are keen to see something unique in the upcoming season.

Whether or not the animation will work remains to be seen, but what we do know is that the show should appeal to fans of titles like Kubo Won’t Let Me Be Invisible and The Dangers in My Heart.
The series follows Kaede, a middle-school student who has a crush on Ai, his seatmate in school. Ai wears glasses due to her bad eyesight, though she also has a tendency to forget them.
Kaede soon starts to help Ai out more regularly whenever she forgets her glasses. Soon, the two become closer to each other.
The Girl I Like Forgot Her Glasses will premiere its first episode on July 4 at 11:00 PM JST (10:00 AM EDT / 7:00 AM PT) on Tokyo MX, MBS, and BS Asahi.
Right now, there’s no word yet on which platform the series will be streamed on outside Japan.
