Perhaps one of the most beautiful and aesthetic anime shows ever created, the anime introduces us to Violet Evergarden, an auto-memory doll. Notably, these dolls were previously employed by the scientist Dr. Orland to aid her blind wife, Mollie, in writing novels.
Auto memory dolls are now considered "ghostwriters" and are hired by people who have difficulty writing and expressing their emotions in words and letters. The story then focuses on Violet as she adjusts to the post-war society while seeking to comprehend the last words of her mentor and guardian, Major Gilbert, who told her: "I Love You."
The animation production of the show is so beautiful that it won the Best Animation category in Crunchyroll’s 2019 Anime Awards. Netflix began streaming the series worldwide on January 11, 2018.

Horimiya is a romantic comedy shojo anime that follows the story of the unlikely duo, Kyouko Hori and Izumi Miyamura. As a result, Hori and Izumi began to bond with each other as they grew closer together.
Although the anime is generic and pretty much mediocre because of its cliché tropes, it is still a decent watch that will make anyone’s day much better. With relatable and realistically well-written characters, the anime also relies on its visual effects, warm color palette, and overall background aesthetic.Advertisement
Komi Can't Communicate
Komi Can’t Communicate is an anime adaptation that is incredibly faithful to its source material. From each of the character’s expressions to the running gags in the series, the anime never falls short of everyone’s expectations.
Although there are some flaws here and there due to the slow pacing of the anime, humorless moments, and that particular repetitive feeling that viewers get from watching romcom shows, the anime lives up to everyone’s expectations with its social commentary and realistic approach to personal issues.
The anime follows Shouko Komi, a beautiful high school student who suffers from severe social anxiety, preventing her from speaking clearly and expressing her feelings to others. With the help of her classmate, Hirohito Tadano, Komi aims to successfully befriend 100 people in her high school life.
Fruits Basket 2019
Fruits Basket or "Furuba" is an iconic romance anime released in 2001. Due to its popularity among fans, the anime received a reboot in 2019. In fact, the anime has recently released a theatrical film entitled "Fruits Basket: Prelude".
The anime follows the kind-hearted and orphaned high school student Honda Tooru as she gets entangled with the terrible secret of the Souma Household: If one of the members of the Souma family gets hugged by someone of the opposite gender, they will transform into one of the animals in the zodiac.
With an interesting and unique concept, Fruits Basket continues to deliver an amazing and heart-warming experience among its viewers. With well-written characters and a well-developed plot narrative, the anime is a definite must-watch!
I remembered watching Ryuuji Takasu and Taiga Aisaka from Tora Dora back when I was in high school. Even to this day, the anime offers an enjoyable experience, much like when it was first released in 2008.
The anime follows the eccentric and chaotic Palmtop Tiger, Aisaka Taiga, and the intimidating yet gentle-natured Ryuuji Takasu. Although complete opposites, the two shared a lot of similarities with each other, especially their unrequited love for each other’s close friends.
With a very interesting and exceptional concept that stays away from rom-com clichés, Toradora also prides itself on its uniquely written characters, unpredictable moments, and out-of-the-blue comedic scenes. If I were to rate it based on my watching experience, Toradora would be a 10/10 for me!Advertisement
My Little Monster
Don’t take the title literally because My Little Monster is not a fantasy anime. It tells the story of an apathetic, detached, and impassive high school girl named Shizuku Mizutani and her eccentric, impulsive, and childlike classmate, Haru Yoshida.
Despite their dissimilarities, Haru and Shizuku have the same level of understanding of relationships and human nature. The story then follows their high school lives as they explore their relationship with each other and other people. Although the anime is a slow burner, it relies on the peculiar interactions of the characters with one another.
Kaguya sama: Love is War
As the title implies, Kaguya-sama: Love is War is about two peculiar individuals and their heated battle of love and pride. It is one of the most realistic and relatable romance anime to ever exist, with an interesting concept that goes beyond the borders of a shoujo anime. With a record-high rating of 8.40 from MAL, the audience was swept away by the ridiculous antics of the characters as well as the enjoyable experience delivered by the anime.
It follows the story of two prideful geniuses who are actually in love with one another. However, both of them believe that the first person who declares their love is inferior to the receiver of the confession. The story hereon follows their strategies for forcing the other side to profess their love.
Ouran High School Host Club
Ouran High School Host Club, or OHSHC, is one of the most iconic anime that sets itself apart from other anime shows despite being released in 2006.
Just like Fruits Basket, OHSHC is one of those shows that will go down in the list of anime titles everyone should watch before they bite the dust. It is also the forerunner of rom-com anime that elevated the genre to another level. It is an anime that never gets old, no matter how many times someone re-watches the show.
It follows the story of the intelligent yet poor student, Haruhi Fujioka, who transfers to the prestigious school of Ouran Academy. Because of a freak accident, aka the "vase accident," Haruhi is forced to work in the host club of the school. Because of her androgynous look, everyone wants to associate themselves with Haruhi, especially the leader of the host club, Tamaki Suoh.
