The Flash ended up becoming a huge box office flop when it was released just last month. With a production budget of $200-220 million plus a sizeable marketing budget of around $150 million, it only ended up grossing around $262 million making it one of the biggest box office bombs of all time.

The film's disappointing box office results come as Ezra Miller was involved in several controversies before its release which affected its press tour as the actor was not present in any activities except the Los Angeles red carpet premiere.

Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav and DC Studios co-chairman James Gunn were also hailing it as one of the best comic book movies of all time which most critics disagree with as the reviews were not entirely glowing.

There is no doubt that the film is a big failure for the studio and it doesn't help that it is the third film in a row that a DCEU movie disappoints at the box office.

Now, as the film is at the end of its theatrical run, it looks like it will be resorting to another medium to try to capitalize on it one last time and hopefully turn more profit.

Warner Bros. Digital Collectibles and Eluvio have announced that The Flash is set to debut on the NFT blockchain, making it the first newly-released film to make the move.

The NFT version titled "The Flash Web3 Movie Experience" will be a multimedia living movie experience where owners can watch the film and have access to special features, collect key art, discover digital easter eggs, and uncover hidden AR collectibles.

According to the description, "fans will find themselves on an exhilarating adventure with The Flash as he tries to save the future. Fans will dive into the world of The Flash movie, alongside multiverse heroes like Michael Keaton’s Batman and discovering new characters including Supergirl."

"This is a chance for DC fans to own a piece of motion picture history," CEO and co-founder of Eluvio Michelle Munson said in a statement.

After its disappointing box office performance, this is certainly an interesting move from Warner Bros. since it seems that they are trying to take another opportunity to get more profit from the film and lessen its losses as much as possible.

The studio is hoping that this jump to the NFT space will be a success for them and it is curious to see whether it will end up on that path or its failure will continue.
