Kiersey Clemons was attached to the role of Iris West in The Flash for several years. In fact, she got cast to be part of the film back when Rick Famuyiwa was attached to direct before he left.

Despite Famuyiwa's exit, the actress remained in the role and she appeared for a quick scene in Justice League although it was cut in the theatrical version. She eventually appeared in the Snyder Cut and finally established her presence in the DCEU.

As the film finally moved forward to production, Clemons' commitment to the project finally became official as it was confirmed that she will appear in the movie as Iris West in a more prominent capacity.

While she didn't have a lot of screen time in the film, her character was still pivotal to Barry Allen's personal life as shown in their scenes together.

Now, as the film is finally out in the public and unfortunately became a box office flop, the actress is now reflecting on her experience making the movie.

In an interview with Nylon, Clemons got candid about her experience making The Flash where she expressed her frustration over several aspects such as her co-star Ezra Miller's controversies as she started to get inquiries about it herself.

"I’m having to not just go through my personal experience of Ezra being my friend, but then also having to answer questions that aren’t mine. I’m not going to do that in the media unless it’s asked of me by someone who’s been hurt by that person’s actions," she said.

"Otherwise, I’m speaking on something that isn’t mine without consent. I was getting asked before I was given permission, and also, no one [of Miller’s accusers] has given me permission to speak on their experience with Ezra."

The actress also admitted that she's been "smiling" throughout the years to protect her "peace of mind" and the entire experience was painful for her to the point that the premiere event was the only time that she felt happy.

"Now that the movie’s out, I feel like for the last nearly 10 years, I’ve just been smiling and giving so much grace. I think it was to protect my peace of mind," she said.

"Now I can finally say and admit this whole thing made me cry more than it made me smile. I think I only smiled over this thing at the premiere. I mean, from my perspective, someone was over there mixing potions. Something was happening."

It is unfortunate to hear that Clemons' experience in the film throughout the years wasn't as pleasant as she wanted it to be and it doesn't help that the dilemmas surrounding the project were out of her control.

So far, her future in the DC franchise remains uncertain although the film's disappointing box office may have shot down any chances. There is still a likelihood that she could be part of the new DCU franchise in a different role instead.
