The Flash solo movie had been such a nightmare behind-the-scenes that the film missed its original release set earlier this year. Now the film has found directors in Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley, and we have a tentative date when production will wrap.
According to The Geeks Worldwide, The Flash is set to start shooting on February 2019, and will end May 2019—not counting reshoots. That's about three months of shooting; compare that to a film like Star Wars Episode IX which started shooting July 2018 and will wrap February 2019. That's twice the production time.
With The Flash, we're supposed to expect a smaller scale of superheroing. Unlike the ‘grown-up' heroes like Batman and Superman, Barry Allen is still on the young side in the DCEU, with a lot to learn—much like Tom Holland's Spider-Man with the MCU.
I forgot to mention that directors Daley and Goldstein also worked on Spider-Man: Homecoming as writers.
Hopefully after Aquaman, the DCEU cinematic train starts chugging again. It was stopped dead in its tracks for Justice League, but with new DC Films head Walter Hamada, we should be headed in the right direction for now.
No release date has been set for The Flash yet, but considering the production schedule, we could be looking at a release sometime early 2020.
