The Flash: IT Director Andy Muschietti Talks His Next Film

DCEU's Flash movie has had trouble finding a director, and the latest person to get attached to the helm is IT's Andy Muschietti. Muschietti has recently confirmed that he's doing The Flash next, and he talks a bit about his approach to the film.

Talking to Fandango, Muschietti was asked if we were going to see any horror elements in The Flash, to which he replied, "An element of horror? I don't think so. What captivated me about The Flash is the human drama in it… The human feelings and emotions that play in the drama [of it]. It's going to be fun, too. I can't promise that there will be any horror [elements in it], really, but it's a beautiful human story."

We don't have any further details on the film, but I'm hoping Muschietti finds something closer to the original plans for the Flash when Zack Snyder was still running things. I mean, Aquaman and Shazam! were alright, but I was a real fan of the mature direction that Snyder was going for. Hopefully, WB and Muschietti see eye-to-eye on where this movie will go.

It's worth noting that the script for the film will be written by Christina Hodson, the same writer for films like Bumblebee and Birds of Prey. After Flash, Hodson is also set to write Batgirl for the DCEU. No word on whether she's going to take notes from Ezra Miller and Grant Morrisson's script.

No release date has been set for The Flash yet, but hopefully, we could see a release sometime in 2022. Catch Muschietti's IT: Chapter Two when it hits theaters Sept. 6.
