HBO Max's upcoming superhero slate is already looking extremely promising with the recent announcement that DC's flagship characters Batman and Superman will be getting new standalone animated shows. My Adventures with Superman is set to tell an entirely different story about a twenty-something Clark Kent and Lois Lane. The animated series will still follow the exact same formula that originally made the Man of Steel a hit amongst fans but the approach will be completely new and fresh — from its overall vibe down to its animation style.
Actor Jack Quaid has been tasked to voice the titular hero which according to him is a role he never knew he'd take on. Speaking with ComicBook, Quaid, who is no longer a stranger in the comic book genre thanks to his involvement in Amazon Prime's The Boys expressed his excitement over the casting. Although he finds the role surprisingly challenging, he's still grateful to be given the opportunity of lending his voice to arguably one of comic book's most iconic superheroes.
He explained: "I love it. It is a challenge, but I see it mostly as an opportunity, not even an opportunity, just I get to be able to play in all of these different universes. I mean, the fact that I'm in Star Trek, and Superman, and this crazy messed up universe where superheroes are real and are drugged from birth to become superhuman. That's insane."
I'm not gonna lie, My Adventures with Superman looks intriguing but I'm willing to give it a shot. So far, I'm digging the vibe of the show and it feels like the upcoming HBO Max offering will present the Man of Steel as a more grounded individual, injecting more fun and lightheartedness into the character. It's almost reminiscent of his initial Golden Age comic book run which I think is a good break from the dark and gritty Supes we've all gotten used to over the last couple of years. Hopefully, the show will be a huge hit.
My Adventures with Superman has not yet been given an official release date.
