Matt Reeves’ rendition of The Batman starring Robert Pattinson as the Caped Crusader remains to be one of the best versions of the titular hero. However, another character rises to fame despite only a few minutes of screen time and that is Colin Farrell playing the smooth-talking villain, Penguin. It was exactly because of his performance in The Batman that granted his Penguin its own spinoff series.

While plot details are still being kept under wraps, Farrell himself had previously stated on Variety that the show’s timeline is featured ‘a week’ after Matt Reeve’s movie ends, which depicts Gotham suffering the aftermath of a massive flood due to Paul Dano’s The Riddler.
Farrell even hinted that the first episode would open with Oswald Cobblepot (Penguin) coming into Carmine Falcone’s office with his feet splashing through the water, along with the anticipation that the total runtime of all episodes, as he revealed on Collider, will be ‘six or eight hours.’
Recently speaking with Variety, upon Colin Farrell joking about how he will still be employed until next year, his statement basically confirms that Penguin’s filming start date will be in ‘February or March’ 2023. Read his full comment below:
“I did it in a film. I hope I’m going to do it for television in February or March. So I’ll be employed.”
With the early 2023 filming, it is possible we will get more updates soon on this story as they go through the storyline. But for now, it’s a given that Penguin will not only affect how we will see Penguin’s story and background, but we will also get to see a different side of Gotham aside from Bruce Wayne’s point of view.
Unfortunately, there are no official announcements yet on the release date for Penguin, but with its starting filming date confirmed to be in February or March 2023, it probably won’t be finished until some time in late 2023 or early 2024.
