The Batman Rumor: Matt Reeve’s Film To Take Notes From Frank Miller’s Batman: Year One

There've barely been any updates about Matt Reeve's The Batman these past few days with Warner Brothers working on the marketing campaign for its upcoming films Aquaman, Shazam, and Wonder Woman 1984.

However, now that this year's San Diego Comic-Con International has come to an end, it looks like there's a new The Batman rumor going around online. Though fans should take the new report with a grain of salt, word has it that The Batman might be taking notes from Batman: Year One comics for its plot.

Revenge of the Fan just recently gave out an update on The Batman, and a large part of the publication's report involves the casting goals of the movie and its setting. According to the publication, DC is now looking for "a Bruce who's 15 to 20 years younger and is meant to be 25 to 30 years old in the story Reeves wants to tell."

This means that "if Batman v Superman bore a passing resemblance to Frank Miller's The Dark Knight Returns, then The Batman will bear a resemblance to Miller's Batman: Year One."

For those who aren't familiar with the story arc, Batman: Year One by Frank Miller tries to recount the Dark Knight's very first year as Gotham's Caped Crusader. Of course, fans might be a bit familiar with the premise – Year One has been adapted for film before with Chris Nolan's Batman Begins taking a lot of notes from the comic. If the rumor is true, then Reeves is going to have to create a very different take on Year One.

The Batman doesn't have a release date just yet but we'll let everyone know as soon as we get word. Meanwhile, Aquaman is set to premiere on December 21, 2018.
