The Batman Casts John Turturro as Carmine Falcone Because Why Not?

If you thought that casting Colin Farrell as Penguin was the coolest move made by The Batman, the upcoming DC film is about to prove you wrong. Director Matt Reeves has just confirmed that John Turturro will portray Carmine Falcone in the highly anticipated Warner Bros. movie.

The casting was first reported by Variety and it didn't take long before Reeves confirmed it with an awesome post referencing Turturro's most iconic role from The Big Lebowski. Check it out below.

You said it, man. This is truly inspired casting not only because Turturro is capable of playing anybody but is an obviously perfect fit for Carmine Falcone. We can't wait to see him face off against Robert Pattinson's Bruce Wayne.

We all know (and love) Turturro as Jesus Quintana from The Big Lebowski but he's also turned in memorable performances in Five Corners, O Brother, Where Art Thou?, and the Transformers films. He is currently working on the Lebowski spin-off movie The Jesus Rolls which will focus on (who else?) his character Jesus. It would be interesting to see this movie before watching Turturro take on the Caped Crusader.

Turturro will join Pattinson as Batman and Farrell and Penguin as well as Andy Serkis as Alfred, Jeffrey Wright as Jim Gordon, Paul Dano as the Riddler, and Zoë Kravitz as Catwoman. The most recent addition to the cast prior to Turturro is newcomer Jayme Lawson.

The Batman is currently in pre-production. The film is scheduled for release on June 25, 2021.
