Robert Pattinson Says He ‘Badgered’ Matt Reeves for an Audition For The Batman

It looks like Robert Pattinson really wanted to become DC's new Dark Knight.

Taking time to speak in an interview with the Los Angeles Times to talk about his new role in the DC Extended Universe, the Twilight star discusses the audition process that he had to go through to become the new Bruce Wayne in Matt Reeve's highly anticipated comic book movie, The Batman.

According to Pattinson, his agents were shocked that he was interested in the movie – for the past few years, the actor has been focusing on small but critically-acclaimed films. However, when Pattinson heard that Reeves wanted to make The Batman into a noir movie about the Caped Crusader, the actor couldn't help but think that "I haven't done a big thing for ages. This is the one I want."

Pattinson had to "badger" Reeves before finally getting a meeting with the director and with producer Dylan Clark. The actor met with the two on multiple occasions, and that led him to securing an audition for the film. Pattinson took three weeks to prepare for the audition, however, all of the actor's preparation for the audition was all thrown away when he had finally put on the atman costume.

There's a lot of excitement over Pattinson's version of Batman. Fans didn't really expect the Twilight star to take on the role, but The Lighthouse actor seems to be pretty fit for the role. We can't wait to see what kind of training Pattinson's gone through to prepare for The Batman.

The Batman is set to premiere on June 25, 2021.
