Following the huge success of the first film last year, the sequel to The Batman is now on its way that is set for release in 2025. With the new management of the DC franchise, the sequel is now delegated as part of DC Elseworlds alongside Joker: Folie à Deux.

So far, the plot details remain under wraps although we can expect the return of the surviving characters from the first film and it will also include characters from the Batman comics lore that haven't been introduced yet.

Now, as the sequel is currently in development, it looks like we have an alleged update regarding the casting of one of the key characters.

YouTube pundit John Rocha shared in the recent episode of The Hot Mic podcast that he heard from sources that the sequel of The Batman is going to introduce Harvey Dent and, by the end of the film, he will eventually become the villainous Two-Face.

In addition, he claimed that Josh Hartnett and Joel Edgerton are the actors that are being considered to play the role in the sequel.

It should be pointed out that this rumor has not been confirmed yet by Warner Bros. and DC Studios nor it was reported by the major trades so we still have to take it with a grain of salt.

The sequel is also still in early development and the pre-production is also on hold at the moment due to the Writers Guild of America (WGA) strike so it might take a while before we can hear a definitive update about the alleged casting for the Harvey Dent role.

If the film does end up introducing Two-Face, it will be the third time that he'll appear in live-action films following Tommy Lee Jones in Batman Forever and, most notably, Aaron Eckhart in The Dark Knight.

Edgerton and Hartnett are interesting choices to play Harvey Dent and they are definitely in the age range now to play the role. Given that the character has been portrayed before in past live-action films, it is curious to see whether they'll do a different take on the character's story.
