We're slowly getting some more news on Matt Reeves' solo Batman movie. After rumor came out that BlacKkKlansman star John David Washington was being wanted for the role of Harvey Dent, we now have some new info on potential actors joining the cast.
As per The GWW, Jamie Foxx (Django Unchained) and Giancarlo Esposito (Breaking Bad) are "on a shortlist for a major role" in The Batman. We don't have any possible character details on who they're being considered for, but some are guessing it could be for the role of the Riddler.
If you've watched Breaking Bad, you'll know that Esposito makes a fantastic cold and calculating villain, and he's also set to play what looks to be a former Imperial in Disney+'s The Mandalorian. He could very well fit the role of the Riddler, but some are guessing he could also pull off Dr. Hugo Strange or Batman ally Lucius Fox.
I don't know who Foxx could be set up to play, but I think his role could be very different from the one Esposito is being considered for. Maybe he's up for the same role as John David Washington, but I can also imagine him as Lucius Fox (I mean, he's even got the last name for it). With his intimidating performance in Baby Driver though, I'd like to see him in something more raw and physical.
At least that's my opinion.
For now, the only actor confirmed for The Batman is Robert Pattinson. Hopefully, we have a full cast breakdown before the year ends.
The Batman is set to release on June 25, 2021.
