The official trailer for Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 is finally here and it confirms a lot about the Hidden Inventory / Premature Death Arc in the anime. However, the most interesting confirmation that the teaser had to offer was the return of Takahiro Sakurai as Suguru Geto amidst his recent cheating controversy.
Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 Trailer Brings Back Takahiro Sakurai as Suguru Geto
The new trailer for Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 puts the focus on Satoru Gojo and new character Riko Amanai who is set to play an important role in Gojo's Past arc. However, the teaser wouldn't be complete without Gojo's best friend Suguru Geto, who helps his fellow sorcerer in protecting Riko.
Geto only appears in a few scenes but the trailer does feature several lines from the character. And not surprisingly, Geto is still voiced by Takahiro Sakurai.
Takahiro Sakurai already played Suguru Geto in the first season of the main anime and in the prequel film Jujutsu Kaisen 0 so it's only natural that fans were expecting him to return in Season 2. However, there were speculations that Geto will be recast after Sakurai faced allegations of extramarital affairs that have gone on in the past 10 years.
Sakurai was previously removed from GoRA and King Records' original anime project Ayaka: A Story of Bonds and Wounds as well as the Mononoke movie. On the other hand, he is expected to keep some major projects amidst the controversy.
In addition to providing the voice of Suguru Geto in Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2, Takahiro Sakurai is expected to reprise his role as Giyu Tomioka in Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Season 3.
Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 will adapt the Gojo's Past arc (retitled Hidden Inventory / Premature Death Arc in the anime) and the Shibuya Incident arc of Gege Akutami's manga. The second season will consist of two consecutive cours, the first of which will premiere on July 6, 2023.
