The Kdrama, Sweet Home, is one of the most interesting takes on a post-apocalyptic world. Although it is based on a webtoon, the Kdrama and the manhwa have two different stories. But will Sweet Home manhwa ending affect how the Kdrama ends?

Before proceeding, make sure you've seen the Kdrama or read the manhwa. This article contains major spoilers for Sweet Home Kdrama and webtoon. Read at your own risk.

You probably already know that Sweet Home is based on a webtoon (or manhwa) written by Carnby Kim and Youngchan Hwang.

When the webtoon got approved to be adapted into a live-action series, the creator of the manhwa requested to change the story of the show. This was because the webtoon was still ongoing. In doing so, the creators of the manhwa could focus on how they want their story to end.

The Sweet Home webtoon wrapped up in July 2020. Meanwhile, the Kdrama was in the process of filming when they learned the manhwa's serialization schedule. The first season also aired on Netflix in December 2020.

Because of the changes, the Kdrama added a few characters and changed the direction of its story. For one thing, Lee Si-young's character, Seo Yi-kyung, was never in the manhwa. There is also no mention of Ah-yi and Ui Myeong in the webtoon.

Because of this, the series of events of Sweet Home Season 2 doesn't take place at all.

How Will Sweet Home Manhwa Ending Affect the Kdrama?

Essentially, the series of events from the Kdrama does not correlate with the Sweet Home manhwa ending.

In the manhwa's ending, Eun-hyuk gives in to his monsterization to save Hyun-soo. However, Eun-hyuk turns into a clump of mass that sucks in Hyun-soo. This kills them both in the process.

Later, one of the cocoons breaks and Hyun-soo hatches from it in his human form. He finds Ji-soo's phone and sheds tears. He finds his friends in a military camp, where he is welcomed by the rest of the Green House survivors.

The Kdrama, now in its second season, doesn't follow the same series of events. With the cliffhanger ending and plot twist of Sweet Home Season 2, it's possible that the manhwa's ending could somewhat realign with the Kdrama. But not entirely since there's still the whole Nam Sang-won and Ah-yi arc to deal with.

That is, of course, if Lee Eun-hyuk's (played by Lee Do-hyun) monsterization doesn't turn him evil.
