With the massive changes that are happening in the management of The CW and the cancellations of several shows on the network, the future of Superman & Lois has been in limbo for the past several weeks. Fans have been anxiously waiting for whether it will get another season.

While the series is a hit for the network, it is also an expensive show to produce and the new management is trying to cut costs on its programming which made it a candidate for being canceled.

Now, we finally have an exciting update regarding the show's future and it looks like we will be getting more heroic adventures with the Kent family.

According to Deadline, The CW has officially renewed Superman & Lois for a fourth season. However, this time around, it will only consist of just 10 episodes, unlike the previous seasons which had 13-15 episodes.

In addition, the upcoming season will also face a major budget cut as Warner Bros. Television proposed a reduced license fee for the network in order to retain the series on the air and have it financially feasible.

As a result, the number of series regulars will be reduced for the upcoming season. The leads will not be affected, but some (if not most) of the supporting cast members will likely be. It is unknown yet how many of the current 12 series regulars will be demoted.

Aside from the Arrowverse spinoff, the network also renewed All American: Homecoming for another season while the freshman DC series Gotham Knights has been canceled.

"We are thrilled to bring All American: Homecoming and Superman & Lois back to The CW. These series are two of our strongest performers across our linear and digital platforms with some of the most passionate fanbases in all of television," Brad Schwartz, President of Entertainment, said in a statement.

"We are grateful to our partners at Warner Bros. Television and Berlanti Productions for their continued collaboration, and we cannot wait to get started on the new seasons."

Due to the budget cut, there is a likelihood that the upcoming season will be more grounded and family-centric and they will reduce scenes that require a lot of visual effects. It is also unknown yet how the reduction of series regulars will affect the show's storylines.

For now, let's wait in the coming months for any updates regarding the development of the fourth season and which regular cast members will be affected by the budget cut.
