Throughout Season 3, we have seen Lois Lane fighting cancer. This has been difficult for the Kent family and her friends. Apart from that, she becomes friends with Peia, who turned out to be the wife of the villain Bruno Mannheim.

Additionally, Lex Luthor was actually innocent. After Boss Moxie was murdered, Lois Lane wrote an article revealing that Lex supposedly confessed to the crime. But the truth was, the Mannheims had something to do with it.

Now, Lex is out of prison as a free man and makes a promise to get revenge on Lois. So, what happened in the ending of the Superman & Lois Season 3 finale? This article provides a recap and explains the ending of the Superman & Lois Season 3 finale.

Lex Luthor’s Plan Revealed: Turning Bizarro into Doomsday

In the Superman & Lois Season 3 finale, Lex Luthor turned Bizarro into Doomsday. 33 days ago, Lex went to Bruno Mannheim’s lab and found Bizarro.

Bizarro seems to no longer recognize who and what he is as he was eating rats at that point. He attacks Lex’s guy, and Lex shoots him with X-Kryptonite.

Despite shooting Bizarro multiple times, the latter doesn’t die. This has something to do with what Bruno Mannheim did to him.

Lex realizes that every time he kills Bizarro, the latter becomes stronger. So, Lex convinces Bizarro to allow him to keep killing him “so nothing in this world can stop you ever.”

Later on, Lex confronts Superman at the Kent house and tells him that Lois knew he was innocent but she didn’t listen. Superman tells Lex that he’s not a martyr, and Lex responds that Superman is not a hero.

Lex then asks if Superman ever thought about dying, and later on, he uses Sam’s ELT and calls Bizarro, who’s now Doomsday. So, Lex Luthor's plan was to get revenge on Lois by getting rid of Sam Lane and Superman first.

He’s already taken care of General Lane, so for Superman, he would use Doomsday to kill the hero.

The season 3 finale of Superman & Lois sets up multiple character exits. We know that Superman & Lois has been renewed for Season 4, but there’s a caveat: majority of the cast won’t be returning as series regulars due to budget cuts.

Deadline reported that Dylan Walsh (Sam Lane), Emmanuelle Chriqui (Lana Lang), Erik Valdez (Kyle Cushing), Inde Navarrette (Sarah Cortez), Wolé Parks (John Henry Irons), Tayler Buck (Natalie Irons), and Sofia Hasmik (Chrissy Beppo) would be departing as series regulars for Superman & Lois Season 4.

So, what happened to their characters in the Superman & Lois Season 3 finale?

A baby is coming for Chrissy and Kyle. Chrissy finds out she’s pregnant, and later on, Kyle proposes to her in public.

While Lana is surprised on both occasions, she takes the news well. Lana tells Kyle that he’s a great dad and the baby is lucky to have him. She also tells Kyle that he should allow her to spoil the baby rotten.

As for Lana, she finds herself in a new romance. Lana and John Henry have been getting closer throughout Season 3, and in the finale, they finally go out on a date.

John Henry admits that nothing was wrong with Lana’s security system and that he needed an excuse to work up the courage. Lana holds his hand, and John Henry asks if she’s sure because he’s leaving for Metropolis.

Lana responds, “Guess I’m gonna have to make you wish you weren’t” and they get intimate. John Henry finds himself conflicted with this new relationship as he was offered a job in the Department of Defense (DOD), which would be more official and full-scale.

This job would require him to move to Metropolis, which complicates things with his relationship with Lana. However, the thought of moving to Metropolis excites Natalie for two reasons: first, she could enroll at the DOD Academy where Matteo is attending; second, she and her father could finally open up their company, Steelworks.

As for Sarah, she decides that it’s too soon for her and Jordan to be friends. Throughout Season 3, Jordan has been heartbroken over the fact that he’s no longer with Sarah.

He starts acting rude to her, and in the finale, Clark tells Jordan to talk to her. Jordan tells Sarah that he’s been making up things to be mad at her about because they’re not together.

Sarah accepts Jordan’s apology, but she says that it’s pretty obvious that she and Jordan should not be friends for now. Jordan agrees and says that he needs to figure out his life.

Sarah wishes Jordan the best, and they shake hands. Before Jordan leaves, he tells Sarah, “I’ll see you around.”

As for Sam Lane, he finally decides to start dating again. He introduces his new girlfriend Gretchen to Jordan, Jonathan, and Natalie.

However, it's later revealed that Gretchen is working with Lex Luthor, and she abducts Sam. Later on, Lex asks, “Lane taken care of?” and Gretchen responds, “Won’t be an issue.”

We no longer see Sam after, and with actor Dylan Walsh not returning for Season 4, Sam Lane could be dead.

The season 3 finale ends on a cliffhanger. Superman takes his fight with Doomsday from Smallville to Metropolis, but Doomsday overpowers him.

Thanks to Lois Lane whispering “Clark” and his memories with his family, Superman wakes up and continues to fight Doomsday.

The Superman & Lois Season 3 finale ends with Superman and Doomsday fighting each other on the moon before the credits appear.

What Could Happen in Superman & Lois Season 4?

We don’t know much yet about Superman & Lois Season 4, only that it’s shortened into ten episodes and that seven cast members would not be returning as series regulars. We also know that Michael Cudlitz’s Lex Luthor will be the main villain.

Season 4 could start where Season 3 left us – in that battle scene between Superman and Doomsday. As for what could happen throughout the season, Season 4 would clearly focus on the Kent family alone since majority of the cast won’t be returning as series regulars.

It’s possible for the Kent family to move out of Smallville since this would explain the absence of their characters’ friends. But even if they do remain in Smallville, it might be their friends moving out.

Kyle and Chrissy could start a new life somewhere, while John Henry and Natalie would be moving to Metropolis. Lana could be in Metropolis often should she and John Henry take things to the next level.

Lana did mention that she always wondered what it would be like to live in Metropolis, although this could also be unlikely since she’s Smallville’s mayor.

Sarah and Jordan are no longer friends, so it makes sense for her not to appear. And Sam Lane is possibly dead, so this explains why he wouldn’t be in Season 4.

We’re gonna have to wait for Superman & Lois Season 4 to get our answers. There’s no release date yet, but at least we have another season to look forward to.
