Stephen King's The Dark Half is Getting a Terrifying New Adaptation

Stephen King is proving yet again that his works are way too good to be left alone for too long. A new report confirms that The Dark Half is getting another adaptation.

The report comes from Deadline, which reveals that Alex Ross Perry has signed on to helm a new version of King's 1989 novel. The book was originally made into a 1993 movie directed by the legendary George Romero starring Timothy Hutton.

The Dark Half follows Thad Beaumont, a writer who is known for penning horror novels under the pseudonym George Stark. After his success, Thad decides it's time to put Stark to rest and organizes a mock burial of the moniker. This is when strange things start to happen to Thad that threatens to destroy everything he worked so hard for.

It might not be the scariest book that King has worked on but it has a certain connection to the author. After all, The Dark Half is somehow inspired by King's own pseudonym Richard Bachman under which he wrote darker and more cynical works. Although King somehow put Bachman to rest in 1985, he later penned 1996's The Regulators under the same name. Bachman's final work was Blaze in 2007.

The upcoming adaptation of The Dark Half has not yet been given an official production start date or release date. Likewise, the cast has not yet been confirmed. Stay tuned for more updates on this story.
