Stephen Amell and Grant Gustin Swap Roles in New Poster for DC's Elseworlds

The CW's Arrowverse is building up to another crossover event this December, and it looks like they're going to be shaking things up a bit more than we expected. Just in, we get the first poster for Elseworlds, and it has Grant Gustin and Stephen Amell switching roles with Amell as the Flash, and Gustin as Green Arrow.

Check it out:

In the comics, Elseworlds was the tag used for stories placed in alternate universes, and we have stories in there like Superman: Red Son and Batman: Gotham by Gaslight. We don't know to what extent the Arrowverse is willing to go, but I'm excited to see how they shake things up.

Besides the mix-up with Amell and Gustin's roles, we know that Ruby Rose will be making her debut as the new Batwoman. We've also spotted Supergirl's Superman Tyler Hoechlin sporting a black suit with a silver shield this time around. Other new characters incoming are The Monitor, Dr. John Deegan, and Nora Fries (a.k.a. Mr. Freeze's wife).

I can't help but feel this decision to pull off Elseworlds was influenced by DC movies deciding to make a Joker film set out of the main timeline. Then again, alternate universes are a common trope when it comes to television, so something like this was inevitable to the Arrowverse.

The crossover is set to take over three nights and will start on Dec. 9 with The Flash, followed by Arrow on Monday, and concluding on Tuesday with Supergirl.
