Star Wars: The Mandalorian Nabs Black Panther Composer

It looks like work on Star Wars: The Mandalorian is coming along nicely. Not only does Lucasfilm's upcoming live-action Star Wars series have most of its cast members round up with Game of Thrones star Pedro Pascal as the show's leading star, but it looks like the production has a composer to work on the score of The Mandalorian.

StarWars.com just recently posted a new update about The Mandalorian, announcing that Creed and Black Panther composer Ludwig Goransson has been tapped to work on the score for Lucasfilm's very first live-action Star Wars series.

Sharing a statement, Gorannson says that he could only feel humbled to be invited to join the project.

"Words fail to express how surreal and humbling it feels to be invited into the Star Wars universe," the composer said in the interview with the publication. "I am deeply grateful to Jon Favreau and Disney for this opportunity and to John Williams for raising the bar so high with his iconic, intrepid scores — they will never be matched. In these next months, I hope to honor the tradition of Star Wars' musical landscape while propelling The Mandalorian into new and unchartered territory. And I will try to remember that there is no try."

The addition of a composer at this point in time could mean good news for Star Wars fans. Usually, composers are brought in during the post-production process. Knowing that The Mandalorian's principal photography began months back, the announcement of a hired composer could mean that the series' production could be coming to a close soon.

There's been a whole lot of excitement over The Mandalorian. Not only will it be run by Marvel's Jon Favreau, but it'll also take fans back to the outer rim for adventures featuring a lone Mandalorian Warrior.

Star Wars: The Mandalorian is expected to premiere sometime next year.
