Star Wars: The High Republic Confirms Major Connection to The Force Awakens Character

It might still be a long wait for the new Star Wars books and comics but we're getting some new details about the upcoming publications. The High Republic has been revealed to have a major connection to a character who first appeared in The Force Awakens.

A new feature on StarWars.com puts the spotlight on the Jedi Knights who will be introduced in The High Republic and it once again confirms that Lor San Tekka comes from a powerful family. Interestingly, Charles Soule shared more details about Lor's ancestors and how they came into power.

"Once just a family of hard-scrabble hyperspace prospectors seeking valuable routes in the outer reaches of the galaxy, the San Tekka clan has become a dynasty, at the forefront of technologies and techniques that let Chancellor Lina Soh's great galactic Republic continue to expand safely to new areas," Soule said. "Overseen by scions Marlon and Vellis San Tekka, the clan operates in close conjunction with the Republic and becomes crucial to its response to the Great Disaster. But the San Tekkas have a secret…their rise did not come without cost."

Although The High Republic takes place several centuries before The Force Awakens, there is a possibility that this secret could be revealed to be the reason why Lor ended up becoming something of a hermit in the movie. Needless to say, we can't wait to learn more about San Tekkas soon.

The Star Wars: The High Republic titles are expected to be released in January 2021.
