Star Wars: Skeleton Crew Taps The Green Knight Director to Helm an Episode

One of the upcoming Star Wars series that is currently on its way is Skeleton Crew, an Amblin Entertainment-style coming-of-age story that is set after the events of Return of the Jedi and around the same time frame as The Mandalorian. Production for the series recently wrapped ahead of its target release this year.

So far, the exact plot details of the series remain under wraps, but Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy has promised that it will "evolved out of that kind of enthusiasm in wanting to tell stories in this space" and has cited films such as The Goonies as one of its inspiration on the series' tone.

We've also been hearing some major production updates about the series including the recent confirmation that Everything Everywhere All at Once directors Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert are helming an episode of the series. Now, another name has been revealed to have joined its directing team.

One Take News has reported that The Green Knight director David Lowery is directing at least an episode of Star Wars: Skeleton Crew. He is the third director who is confirmed to be helming an episode of the series following series co-creator Jon Watts and the Daniels.

Lowery already has an existing working relationship with Disney as he directed the 2016 live-action film adaptation of the animated classic Pete Dragon. He also helmed the upcoming film Peter Pan & Wendy, the live-action adaptation of the classic Peter Pan animated film, that is set to premiere on Disney+ next month.

Jude Law is starring in the series. Watts and Christopher Ford, who worked together in Spider-Man: Homecoming, serve as the creators and executive producers alongside Kennedy, Jon Favreau, and Dave Filoni.

This is certainly an exciting development for the series since Lowery has proved all over the years that he is a talented filmmaker and it is interesting to see how he'll apply his sensibilities as a director in the galaxy far, far away. We should also be hearing more names who are part of the directing team soon.
