Star Wars’ Oscar Isaac Says Episode IX Is Looser Compared To TLJ And TFA

Star Wars: Episode IX might be under a whole lot of pressure being the film to close Lucasfilm's sequel trilogy, however, according to Poe Dameron star Oscar Isaac, working on the movie actually seems a whole lot easier than work on the first two Star Wars films that he's been in.

Speaking in an interview with Indie Wire, Isaacs has been opening up about his time on Episode IX, and while the actor admits that he wants to take some time off after shooting the movie, he says production on The Last Jedi's sequel doesn't have him too worn-down.

According to the actor, work on Episode IX seems a whole lot lighter compared to The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi, saying that director J.J. Abrams has been allowing more improvisation on the set of the newest Star Wars movie.

"The way they've been shooting it right now is looser than it's been for the last two times," Isaacs told the publication. It does feel like a relief to get on set and feel like, ‘Oh, we can try things.' It's a testament to J.J. coming back and feeling confident. There's less pressure for it to be right. We just want to make a good movie and have a really good time while doing it."

Apparently, improvisation came naturally to Isaacs during the production of Episode IX, saying that nothing felt forced while working on the movie.

"Often, you do feel like you've got to find your way to make something more alive, but this time, it's been the opposite," he said. "There's no need to smuggle anything in there."

It sounds like Isaacs is having a great time on Episode IX. Hopefully, all this improvisation will lead to a great ender for the Star Wars sequel trilogy, one of the most highly anticipated films of 2019.

Star Wars: Episode IX hits cinemas December 20, 2019.
