Aside from getting critical acclaim and solid viewership, the Star Wars live-action shows on Disney+ have also been getting a lot of award recognitions including the Primetime Emmy Awards where The Mandalorian received nominations for the top prize in its first two seasons.

With more shows eligible to compete in this year's race, awards experts and pundits have been wondering whether the Television Academy will continue to embrace the Star Wars franchise, especially since their recent shows have been getting more raves than ever.

This morning, the nominations for this year's Primetime Emmy Awards were announced and, fortunately, the Star Wars franchise has a major presence again in the race.

Despite airing a year ago, Obi-Wan Kenobi surprisingly received a nomination for Outstanding Limited Series at this year's Primetime Emmy Awards. Overall, it nabbed a total of five nominations with the other four in the craft categories such as costumes, editing, and sound.

Meanwhile, the first season of Andor landed an Outstanding Drama Series nomination. It also received nominations in the writing and directing categories. In total, the series nabbed an impressive number of eight nominations overall.

Unfortunately, none of the actors in both shows were able to receive nominations despite the experts predicting the likes of Andy Serkis and Diego Luna getting recognition for their terrific performances.

The third season of The Mandalorian still managed to nab nine nominations in the craft categories although it missed out in any of the top categories.

This is certainly an impressive achievement for the franchise and Lucasfilm since this is the first time that two Star Wars shows received nominations for the top prizes in the same year.

Whether you like the shows or not, we can't deny at this point that the industry responded to these Star Wars shows and they were willing to shower it with plenty of nominations in the most prestigious TV award ceremony.

It is interesting to see whether these shows will be able to manage to get at least one win for each show, especially in the craft categories where genre shows usually win. We should be able to find out this coming September (if the strikes will be finished by that time).
