In the latest issue of Empire Magazine which celebrates 25 years of the prequel trilogy, Portman recalled her initial reaction after getting cast as Padme Amidala in The Phantom Menace. Admittedly, the then-rising star was worried that being tied to the franchise meant she wouldn't be able to do other projects.

Portman did realize how big of an opportunity it was and how instrumental it was in her transition to becoming a more serious actor. She said: "I was worried about doing it, that I wouldn’t be able to do anything else after, because the series carries such a mythology in American life. But that was precisely why it was such an incredible opportunity. It bridged my career from a child to an adult."

Thankfully, Portman set her worries and inhibitions aside because her involvement in Star Wars proved to be a wise career decision, catapulting her to the next level.

Now, it will be cool to see Padme return to a galaxy far, far away even just for a flashback sequence or a spinoff of her own, even. Natalie has been very vocal about her desire to reprise the role so perhaps Lucasfilm might have something for her soon.

The prequel trilogy and all your other Star Wars favorites are available to stream on Disney+.
