Star Wars’ Mark Hamill Talks About Meeting With GOTG Director James Gunn

Last month, Mark Hamill's meeting with Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn fired up rumors that the Star Wars legend was going to make his way to the next entry in Marvel's cosmic superhero franchise.

However, it seems like Hamill is quick to douse the flames of excitement, telling fans that his meeting with Gunn went nowhere near the topic of potential acting roles in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Speaking in an interview with Collider, The Last Jedi star admitted that while he had Gunn down over for a barbeque with his wife, they only talked about what it was like to live in Malibu and other regular topics of conversation.

"[Wife] Marilou [Hamill] and I had him down for a barbeque and we didn't talk about the movie. We talked about living in Malibu and our relatives and pets. It never really came up," Hamill told the publication. "But that's the way it should be. I didn't want to strong arm him, in any way. So, I like the movies, they're fun, but I'm happy to be in the audience. There's a lot less pressure. That's why I liked Solo and Rogue One so much. There was 100 percent less Hamill so I didn't have any sort of anxiety. I could just be in the audience, it was great."

While it's hard not to get excited over the idea of seeing Hamill playing a role in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, fans have to remember that not every Hollywood meet-up has to do with work. Actors, actress, directors – they're all regular people too. Sure Hamill and Gunn work for two of the biggest franchises in Hollywood history, but they're also neighbors. It wouldn't be a surprise to see the two having some neighborly visits.

Marvel's latest release, Avengers: Infinity War is currently screening in cinemas.
