Star Wars: Episode IX’s Kylo Ren Says The Film Is Franchise’s Chance To 'Get It Right'

There's a whole lot of anticipation building up over Star Wars: Episode IX. Marking the final film in Lucasfilm's Star Wars sequel trilogy, Episode IX serves as the direct follow-up to the critically-acclaimed but divisive entry, Star Wars: The Last Jedi.

Though quite a number of surveys say that many movie-goers enjoyed the film, The Last Jedi sparked outrage from traditional fans because of its attempts at subverting fan expectations. Now, rumor has it that Episode IX will "course correct" the Star Wars franchise after The Last Jedi's backlash and according to Lucasfilm's Kylo Ren, the film is Star Wars' chance to "go back and get it right."

While Adam Driver didn't give away too much information about the upcoming Star Wars film, the sequel trilogy star did admit that he enjoyed the fact that trilogy films could go back and refine what was built in its earlier installments. Speaking in an interview with Deadline, Driver defined Episode IX as a very theatrical film, saying that he had a better understanding of what he wanted to do in the movie.

"It feels very theatrical if anything. Because in the plays that I've done, a six-month run, on the very last day, you finally feel like, 'Oh, now I have a better understanding of what it is that I want to do. I wish we could do this all over again.' Working on a play, the questions you can ask yourself are infinite, and that's what's torturous about film sometimes – you only have one shot to get it right," the actor explained during his discussion with the entertainment news outlet.

Of course, while there seems to be a sense of finality in the statement, we can't entirely interpret the quote as a direct allusion to a "course correction" from The Last Jedi. Driver could simply be referring to Episode IX's significance as the final film in the trilogy – the final film to "get it right."
