Star Wars Episode IX Reportedly To Explore Major Connection Between Palpatine And Snoke

Ever since his appearance in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, fans have been comparing the First Order's Supreme Leader, Snoke, to the original trilogy's Emperor Palpatine. However, despite Snoke's obvious, Lucasfilm's sequel trilogy killed the Dark Side Force user in Star Wars: The Last Jedi without fully exploring the alien humanoid's backstory and origin. Now, a new fan theory suggests that fans will be able to see a clear connection between Snoke and Palpatine in Star Wars: Episode IX.

According to a report by Movie Web, a new Episode IX rumor has been making the rounds online saying that Snoke is going to have a clearer connection with Palpatine in Episode IX thanks to a few flashbacks in the third and final Star Wars sequel trilogy movie.

This connection has something to do with the statues of the Four Sages of Dwartii in Palpatine's office in Revenge of the Sith. While it might not seem like a direct connection, Snoke's ring in The Last Jedi also has symbols representing the Four Sages of Dwarti – a group of controversial lawgivers and philosophers from the early years of the Galactic Republic. The Star Wars: Last Jedi – Visual Dictionary has long since suggested that Snoke may have existed years before the appearance of Vader, writing that the ring of the Supreme Leader had actually been made from obsidian found underneath Darth Vader's castle.

With Episode IX set to premiere next year, rumors have started spreading word that the Dwarti statues might be explored in the film. Though it's not entirely clear yet how the film will explore this connection between Snoke and Palpatine, speculation says that fans might see it in a few flashbacks in the movie.
