Details About Matt Smith's Character in Star Wars Episode IX Might Have Been Leaked

Star Wars/Doctor Who fans lost their minds when it was announced that Matt Smith would be joining the cast of Star Wars Episode IX, but as of now, we still have no idea who he's playing. It's likely Lucasfilm will keep things under a tight lid until the trailer release next year, but some information on Smith's character has supposedly leaked on Reddit.

According to the source, Smith will be playing someone who is second in command to General Hux (Domnhall Gleeson), and he will be doing most of his scenes with Gleeson.

Of course, we should take this news with a grain of salt, but the same source had said (before any set photos leaked) that the film will deal with Poe and Finn going on their own mission, and based on what we've seen, that could actually be true.

Though Smith is known for playing one of the kookiest versions of the Doctor, he can still pull off creepy when he wants to. Terminator Genisys gets a lot of trash, I thought Smith played a pretty cool villain the form of "human Skynet".

Until Lucasfilm reveals anything official, we're going to be left in the dark. Personally, though I love a good discussion, I love it when the films completely prove every theory wrong. The Last Jedi was able to pull it off, and I'm crossing my fingers that Abrams does the same with this end to the sequel trilogy.

Star Wars Episode IX is set to come out Dec. 20, 2019.
