Star Wars: Episode IX Crew Apparently Using Old Cellphones To Avoid Leaks


Lucasfilm and Disney are putting big restrictions to avoid secrets about their upcoming projects from leaking online, and that includes Star Wars: Episode IX. A member of the Episode IX crew seemingly showed that she had to use an old cell phone without a camera on set to avoid possible leaks from reaching the public.

Victoria Mahoney, who works as the second unit director of the sequel, shared the photo of an old cell phone while tweeting, "#OldSchool ~ #Crew ~ #IX." Her comments on Twitter confirm that the reasons for using the phone are connected to Episode IX, leading us to assume that the Episode IX crew members had to replace their smartphones with use old cell phones while on the set to make sure that they can't capture photos from the set.

Filming for EpisodeIX just started, leaving us to wonder about the film's production. Earlier this month, it was reported that Billy Dee Williams will reprise his role as Lando Calrissian.

Star Wars: Episode IX is set to release in theaters on December 20, 2019. '
