Production on Star Trek 4 might have come to a halt after Paramount Pictures failed to meet Chris Pine and Chris Hemsworth's payment disputes, but Star Trek actor John Cho feels optimistic that the film might still work out.
Cho just recently spoke in an interview with The Playlist about the fourth film in the Star Trek film franchise, and it looks like the Star Trek star has ignited the fanbase's hopes for Star Trek 4 to continue development. While the actor doesn't have any concrete news about the project, Cho fervently believes that the project will come back around, saying that he's optimistic about Star Trek 4.
"I sadly don't have any news for you, I wish I had more for you there though. I don't know what the ins and outs at the studio are but I am optimistic there will be another one because I'm optimistic about what Star Trek says and its place in our culture," Cho told the publication. "And I think it will come back around."
Of course, fans ought to be reminded that this is just Cho expressing his optimism and his hopes for the project – it doesn't necessarily mean that the dispute with Hemsworth and Pine has been settled and that production on Star Trek 4 has continued.
"I'm bullish about it, and honestly, for personal reasons I suppose the last film has a cloud over it, losing Anton after the last one. [...] For me it would be important personally to make one more at least. I think it would alleviate that part of us a little bit to make at least one more," he said.
There's nothing really wrong with holding out hope for Star Trek 4 and we can all really wish the project the best. Hopefully, Paramount manages to bring Pine and Hemsworth back so that production can continue on the film.
In more positive news, the second season of Star Trek: Discovery is set to premiere on CBS All-Access on January 17, 2019.
