With its second performance run coming to an end, it was announced that the Spy x Family musical will be released as a livestream on its last performance day.

Along with this stream, the stage play was also confirmed to get a Blu-ray and DVD release this December, giving fans who couldn’t watch it a chance to see the performance at home.

Of course, this livestream won’t be free as viewers would need to buy a ticket to see it online.

Musical Spy x Family Stage Play Run in Japan

Spy x Family was one of the biggest anime hits of 2022, so it wasn’t a surprise when a stage play adaptation was announced back in May last year.

This is because many popular anime are made into theatrical plays, including the likes of Fullmetal Alchemist and Attack on Titan.

Officially titled Musical Spy x Family, this stage play was performed at the Imperial Theater in Tokyo from March 8-29, 2023.

This was followed by a second performance run at the Hyogo Performing Arts Center from April 11-16, 2023.

As the second run just ended, there will be an over two-week-long break before the third performance.

Specifically, the third performance run will happen in the Hakataza Theater in Fukuoka from May 3-21, 2023. This run’s final performance will be the one to get a livestream.

Given that most anime stage plays are only done in Japan, it’s unlikely that this Spy x Family musical will make its way to other countries in the future.

As for the livestream, the final two performances at the Hakataza Theater will be shown live through uP! and TELASA, giving fans two shows to choose from.

The first will begin at 12:00 PM JST while the next one will happen at 5:00 PM JST. Each performance will have a different set of cast members.

Tickets will be available on the play’s official website, with each viewing ticket priced at JPY 5,500 (around USD 38).

There will also be an archive of the stream that will be available for a limited time.

For those who won’t be able to watch the livestream, a recording of the play will be released as a Blu-ray/DVD on December 13.

The limited-edition Blu-ray will also come with a special video featuring the cast members along with other bonus clips.
