It has been a couple of months since the first season ended. Now though, Crunchyroll announced the Spy x Family English Blu-ray and DVD release date as part of its upcoming anime home video lineup.
This home-release version of Spy x Family differs from the Japanese Blu-ray and DVD versions.
Aside from the fact that the Crunchyroll version comes with English options, it also features different bonus content that's unique from the Japanese release.
Spy x Family Japanese Blu-ray Release
Even before the anime blew up last year, Spy x Family was already popular, as many fans all over the world have enjoyed the manga series for years now.
Given its interesting premise, it makes sense that the series has become a huge phenomenon.
While it may not have gotten the Anime of the Year title at various 2022 awards, it was easily one of the most-streamed shows.
As it was one of 2022’s most popular anime, it shouldn’t come as a surprise that the series’ Japanese Blu-ray release sold over 8,000 copies in its first week.
However, as with most Japanese Blu-ray releases, only the first four episodes were part of the first volume.
This means you’ll need to buy six Blu-ray volumes to get the entire season (including Parts 1 and 2).
As each Blu-ray volume is priced at JPY 8,800 (around USD 66), you’ll need to shell out a lot to complete the entire series. Thankfully, that won’t be the case for the English release.

Spy x Family Blu-ray/DVD English Version Details, Release Date
Unlike the Japanese version, the Crunchyroll Spy x Family Blu-ray/DVD version already includes the entire Part 1, meaning it features the show’s first 12 episodes. It will also come with English and Japanese language options.
Along with the episodes, the release will also come with special bonuses. Plus, as its name implies, the package comes with two Blu-ray discs and two DVDs.

- Spy x Family - Japanese Voice Actor Interviews Part 1 & Part 2
- Textless Ending Song
There’s no word yet on pricing, but it’s likely that this release will be priced at the USD 50 price point based on the other Blu-ray releases on the Crunchyroll store -- which is much more affordable than the Japanese release.
What we do know is that the upcoming Blu-ray/DVD release will be available on June 13, 2023.
