Spider-Verse 2 Producer Plays Coy On Tom Holland’s Potential Spider-Man Cameo

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is set with Miles Morales (Shameik Moore) teaming up with Gwen Stacy/Spider-Gwen (Hailee Steinfeld) off into a web-slinging, multiverse-jumping adventure again. Seeing as the multiverse-traveling invokes multiple possibilities, Spider-Verse 2 producer Christopher Miller teases a potential Tom Holland Spider-Man cameo.

Tom Holland’s Peter Parker has had his own share of exploring the multiverse in his last threequel, Spider-Man: No Way Home. In fact, it’s what began the circulation of the multiverse coming together in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. While Miles Morales’ Spider-Verse is not technically connected in the MCU, the multiverse is still open to any alternate dimensions to get into.

By neither confirming nor denying on Miller’s recent interview with Empire (via The Direct), the producer teases what’s to come in the Spider-Verse sequel. When asked about the chances of Tom Holland appearing, the producer merely says:

“Let’s say… Anything is possible in the multiverse.”

Miller did state in a past interview from February 2022 about the multiverse’s wideness of reach, further proving the possibility of another Spider-Man variant appearance.

“The multiverse is big and wide. And all things grow… Why would you think a multiverse, in which many things are possible, that [those things are] not related?”

Previously, Miller also explained that Spider-Verse 2 will be focusing on Miles in his coming-of-age journey “as he is going through different phases in his life” by calling the titular character a ‘multi-dimensional superhero’ preparing himself for his next challenges.

In the same interview, the producer also teased a romance sparking and developing between Miles and Gwen as they venture off into the multiverse, which sounds similar to how Tom Holland’s Peter Parker experienced the multiverse with his own new blooming romance in No Way Home.

Of course, in contrast, the faster it bloomed, the quicker it faded. As a form of sacrifice, he had to keep his identity a secret once and for all upon Doctor Strange erasing the memories of every person on earth who knew Peter Parker’s Spider-Man.

Perhaps, if the Spider-Verse sequel intends on exploring more than just a simple cameo from Tom Holland, we can expect good heads-up advice to Miles upon Peter Parker learning from his previous mistake. We’ll just have to see once the film premieres.

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (Part One) will be released on June 2, 2023.
