Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse Could Have Had All Three Live-Action Spider-Men

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse is, without a shadow of a doubt, the best movie to ever feature the wallcrawler, proving that you don't have to be Peter Parker to be Spider-Man. As fans wait for another Spider-Man film to topple the standards set by Into the Spider-Verse, the debate as to which live-action Spidey is best rages on, with many placing their bets on either Tobey Maguire, Andrew Garfield, or newbie Tom Holland, who reprises the role of Spidey in July's Far From Home.

It turns out that we almost got all three live-action Spider-Men in Into the Spider-Verse, which is going to make a lot of us very sad since that would have been a neat gag. Oh well, maybe in the sequel.

Co-Director Rodney Rothman told Jeff Goldsmith in his podcast that he wrote a scene with for all three live-action Spider-Men that would have appeared in Into the Spider-Verse. However, as Rothman puts it, they were worried about confusing fans in regards to the film's consistency. We already had one dead Peter Parker and an older, more cynical Peter B. Parker, so why add three more?

"I wrote a scene that had every, that had Tom Holland and Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire in the same scene and... I don't want to get into it but I did write that scene, but there's a lot of anxiety, there's a lot of anxiety around the movie generally and there was anxiety about confusing people."

While it would have been a lot of fun, the movie was pretty darn perfect without that scene. Focusing too much on jokes like that might have lessened the development of Miles and Peter B. Parker, so not including that was a good move.

Once again, there's always a sequel that could do that scene.

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse might still be showing in theaters. Expect a Blu-Ray release soon.
