Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse Gets Oscar Nomination for Best Animated Feature

Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse is seen by many as the best film to ever feature the character and was easily the best-animated feature to come out last year. Many thought that the film might not get nominated since it was released so late last year but that isn't the case. Variety listed all of the Oscar nominations and have confirmed that Into the Spider-Verse has been nominated for Best Animated Feature.

Other animated films nominated for the award include Incredibles 2, Isle of Dogs, Ralph Breaks the Internet and Mirai. Considering how Disney had a disappointing output of animated films last year, it's clear that the only true competition for Into the Spider-Verse is Mirai and Isle of Dogs. Then again, Disney has won in years where they didn't deserve it *cough cough* How to Train Your Dragon 2 got screwed *cough cough.*

To be fair, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse has a lot going for it. While the narrative was decent, the film had a tremendous animated style that had never been seen before and it made some fans wish that all comic book movies were animated. Add the great voice acting, music, and characterization, it's clear that this film definitely deserves the nomination.

The Academy Awards will air live Feb. 24 at 5 p.m. PT/8 p.m. ET on ABC. No Blu-Ray release date for Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse has been released.
